About
Artist. Educator. Author. Storyteller.
Dominique Merrill's story begins in Versailles, France, before moving with her family to Los Angeles as a child.
Music entered her life early.
What followed was a remarkably varied career that would ultimately bring together performance, language, education, writing and international culture.
Dominique developed extensive training in voice, theater and performance and later earned both undergraduate and graduate degrees in French literature from UCLA.
Her multilingual abilities became an important part of her professional life.
Dominique worked in the Los Angeles recording community as a vocalist, translator and lyric adapter, contributing to projects connected with artists, composers and producers including Don Henley, Donna Summer, Plácido Domingo, Haim Saban and Shuki Levy.
Her work crossed popular music, television, international recordings and multilingual projects.
She also built an extensive career in education.
Dominique taught French and other language courses for decades and developed international educational experiences connecting students with French language and culture.
Her career also expanded into writing, storytelling and children's literature.
Even while education became a significant part of her professional life, music never entirely disappeared.
Neither did writing.
Neither did storytelling.
Following a serious health challenge and recovery, Dominique began looking at creativity, time and purpose differently.
Music called again.
This time, she answered.
The result was Lucky Me.
The album does not represent a woman attempting to recreate the past.
It represents an artist bringing everything she has learned into the present.
Today, Dominique Merrill stands at the intersection of everything she has spent a lifetime becoming:
Singer. Writer. Teacher. Author. Multilingual creative. Survivor. Storyteller.
